10 Family Day Trips from Colombo
Sometimes you just need to get out of the city. Luckily, Colombo is surrounded by incredible destinations that are perfect for family day trips. All of these are within 2 hours drive (traffic permitting!).
1. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Distance: 90 minutes | Best for: All ages Watch elephants bathe in the river, feed baby elephants, and learn about conservation. An unforgettable experience for kids of all ages.

2. Negombo Beach & Lagoon
Distance: 45 minutes | Best for: All ages A quieter beach town north of Colombo with calmer waters, fish markets, and a pleasant lagoon. Great for a relaxed beach day.

3. Brief Garden (Bevis Bawa)
