Crescat Kids Zone Review

The Crescat Kids Zone is a small, free play area located on the upper floor of Crescat Boulevard mall on Galle Road. If you’re already shopping at Crescat, it’s a useful place to give your toddler a quick play break.

The Space

Let’s be upfront: this is a basic mall play area, not a dedicated play centre. You’ll find:

  • A small soft play structure with a slide
  • A few ride-on toys
  • Some basic seating for parents

The equipment is functional but showing its age. It’s been around for a while and could use a refresh. That said, toddlers don’t care about aesthetics β€” our 2-year-old was perfectly happy climbing and sliding for 20 minutes.

Best Use Case

Crescat Kids Zone works best as a pit stop, not a destination. Here’s when we use it:

  • During grocery shopping: Pop the kids in the play area while one parent grabs items from Keells or other Crescat stores
  • Waiting for food: If you’ve ordered at one of the restaurants and need to keep kids occupied
  • After swimming: The Colombo Swimming Club is nearby β€” it’s a good post-swim stop

Practical Information

  • Cost: Free
  • Best for: Ages 1-4
  • Parking: Crescat has a multi-story car park (validated parking available)
  • Food nearby: Multiple restaurants and a food court in the mall
  • Toilets: Clean mall restrooms nearby

Our Verdict

We give Crescat Kids Zone 3.2 out of 5 β€” it’s fine for what it is. Don’t make a special trip, but if you’re already at Crescat, it’s a handy little space to burn 20 minutes with a young child. We’d love to see them invest in upgrading the equipment β€” it could be much better with a small refurbishment.
