Our Visit to Fun World, Majestic City

Fun World at Majestic City is one of those places that every Colombo kid has memories of. It’s been around for decades, and while it shows its age, there’s a certain nostalgic charm that keeps families coming back.

Located on the upper floor of Majestic City mall in Bambalapitiya, Fun World is essentially a large indoor arcade and amusement zone. Think coin-operated rides, classic arcade games, bumper cars, and a small soft play section.

What’s Inside

The space is divided into several areas:

Arcade Zone: Rows of classic arcade machines — racing games, shooting games, claw machines, and basketball hoops. Most games cost LKR 50-100 per play.
Kiddie Rides: Coin-operated cars, trains, and animal rides that toddlers and young kids enjoy. These are the highlight for the under-5 crowd.
Bumper Cars: A small bumper car rink that’s popular with kids aged 6-12. Expect queues on weekends.
Soft Play Corner: A basic soft play area for younger children. It’s small and basic compared to dedicated play centres, but it’s included in the entry price.

The Honest Truth

Fun World is not a premium play experience. The equipment is dated, the lighting is dim, and it can feel overwhelming when it’s busy. If you’re comparing it to newer, purpose-built play centres like Kiddoz, it falls short.

However, it has its charm and its place. It’s the most budget-friendly play option in Colombo — you can easily entertain two kids for under LKR 1,000. It’s also conveniently located inside a mall, so you can combine it with shopping or a meal at the food court.

Entry: No entry fee — you buy tokens/coins for individual games and rides
Average spend: LKR 500-1,000 per child for a solid hour of fun
Best for: Ages 5-12 — older kids who enjoy arcade games
Not great for: Toddlers or parents who want a quiet sit-down (it’s noisy!)
Food: Majestic City food court is right there — lots of affordable options
Parking: Majestic City has a multi-story car park (LKR 100/hour)

Our Verdict

Fun World is a solid rainy-day backup or a quick stopover if you’re already at Majestic City. Don’t go expecting a modern, Instagram-worthy play zone — but if your kids enjoy arcade games and you want to keep costs down, it does the job. Our 7-year-old loved it; our 2-year-old was less impressed.
